Dhulikhel: Dusit Thani Himalayan Resort Dhulikhel has won two awards at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026, receiving Gold in the Leading Wedding Hotel/Resort category and Silver in the Leading Luxury Hotel/Resort category.
The awards recognise the resort’s growing reputation as a destination for luxury weddings, private celebrations and premium hospitality in Nepal.
The awards were presented at a ceremony held in the Maldives on October 8. Ramesh Hamal, Managing Director; Ankit Sharma, General Manager; and Neeta Thapa, Director of Sales and Marketing, received the honours on behalf of the resort.
Located at an altitude of approximately 1,750 metres near the Namobuddha Monastery, the resort combines Himalayan scenery with Thai-inspired hospitality and a range of luxury experiences. The latest recognition marks an important milestone for the property as it continues to attract visitors seeking exclusive celebrations and wellness retreats.
According to the resort, demand for destination weddings, private celebrations and exclusive resort bookings has increased in 2026. Bookings and enquiries for the coming months have also continued to grow, strengthening Dhulikhel’s appeal as a destination for special occasions and luxury getaways.
Beyond weddings and celebrations, the resort has been expanding its wellness offerings through Devarana Wellness and more than 40 immersive experiences. These include sound healing, yoga, meditation, spa treatments and nature-based activities designed to help guests relax and reconnect with their surroundings.
Dusit Thani is the first Thai international hotel brand in Nepal. Its approach combines Thai hospitality with the natural tranquillity of the Himalayan foothills.
Speaking about the achievement, Managing Director Ramesh Hamal said the international recognition was encouraging for the resort and Nepal’s tourism industry.
He said the resort aims to develop a distinctive luxury destination that showcases Nepal’s natural beauty while contributing to the growth of tourism. The awards, he added, reinforce the potential of Dhulikhel as a destination for international travellers.
General Manager Ankit Sharma said the recognition reflected growing guest confidence, rising demand for destination weddings and private resort bookings, and increased interest in wellness experiences.
He also credited the resort’s team and guests for contributing to its progress, adding that the resort aims to set new standards for luxury hospitality in Nepal and establish Dhulikhel as a destination for travellers from around the world.
The resort is located just over an hour’s drive from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu and approximately three kilometres from Namobuddha Monastery.
It has 72 rooms and suites, including 18 private villas. Its facilities include Thaan, an all-day dining restaurant, Bela poolside bar, Devarana Wellness, a fitness centre, an infinity swimming pool, an outdoor jacuzzi, steam and sauna facilities.
For weddings, meetings and other social events, the resort offers a pillarless ballroom with a panoramic terrace overlooking the Namobuddha Valley, two meeting rooms and a landscaped event lawn.
The latest SATA honours further strengthen the resort’s profile in Nepal’s growing luxury tourism and destination wedding market.
