Mustang: The Jomsom-Korola road section has been obstructed by landslides occurred at three locations today. The incessant rain triggered the landslides at various locations along the road section, the District Police Office, Mustang said.

The Jomsom-Korala National Highway has been blocked by landslides at various points: above Chaile village in Baragung Muktichhetra (specifically at Kalobhir), along the Kagbeni-Tangbe road section, and at ‘Selfie Danda’ in Ghami (Loghekar Damodarkunda-2) in Upper Mustang, it said. The route connects Jomsom to Korola along the Nepal-China border.

According to police inspector Santosh Basyal while the landslide debris at Selfie Danda in Ghami has been removed, the road remains blocked at Kalobhir (near Chaile) and along the Kagbeni-Tangbe section.

Inspector Basyal said that a team from the Kagbeni Police Post has already been deployed to the site of the landslide on the Kagbeni-Tangbe road. The obstruction of the Jomsom-Korala highway has disrupted import and export chain with China.

Incessant rains since Friday night caused landslide at more than six locations along the Beni-Jomsom road section, as well, according to Beni-Jomsom-Korola road project Chief Tejaswi Sharma.

ccording to her, continuous rainfall has resulted in the roadway disruption at the Ghasa Bagar, while falling rocks continue to pose a hazard at Kabhre Bhir (cliff). Project Chief Sharma said that landslides occurring above the road at locations including Sirubari, Tatopani, Rupse, and Pokharebagar in Myagdi have disrupted the traffic.

Hundreds of electric vehicles imported from China have remained stranded in Jomsom due to the roadway disruption, it is reported.
