KATHMANDU, August 30. IME Group has pledged Rs 100 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support search and rescue operations, immediate relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River.

The contribution will be made through IME Group and companies promoted by the group, including Global IME Bank, IME Limited, IME Life Insurance, IGI Prudential Insurance, Chandragiri Hills, DishHome, IME Motors and its partner company Ashok Leyland, IME Khalti, Swift Technology, Midas Health, MyMart, Lumbini Cable Car and IME Foundation, among others.

The group said employees working at its companies would also contribute an amount equivalent to one day’s salary to the relief effort.

IME has also announced a fee-free remittance facility for people around the world who wish to send financial assistance to Nepal. The group said donations could also be deposited directly into the government’s relief fund free of charge through Khalti and IME mobile wallets.

In addition, IME Foundation, in coordination with the group, has pledged to provide further relief and in-kind assistance to affected communities.

According to the group, the assistance is being provided as part of its corporate social responsibility programme, with the aim of supporting the search for missing people, treatment of the injured, provision of food to affected families and reconstruction of damaged infrastructure.

The group expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the floods and thanked security personnel, volunteers, local communities and concerned authorities involved in rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.

IME Group has previously provided financial, material and humanitarian assistance during major disasters, including floods, landslides, inundation, earthquakes and epidemics in different parts of the country.
