GEMS School Launches 3DI Incubation Labs to Inspire the Next Generation of Thinkers, Innovators, and Problem Solvers
Kathmandu . GEMS School proudly inaugurated its state-of-the-art 3DI Incubation Labs today, marking a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to preparing students for the rapidly evolving world of the 21st century.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Director, 3DI School, New Zealand, Dr. Craig Hansen, representatives of 3DI School, Nepal, academic and administrative leaders of the school, parent invitees, and well-wishers, all of whom gathered to celebrate a shared vision of nurturing creativity, innovation, and experiential learning.
The two Incubation Labs, for the Primary and Middle School, have been established as dynamic learning environments where students can Discover, Design, Develop, and Innovate through hands-on exploration, collaborative projects, design thinking, robotics, artificial intelligence, digital fabrication, coding, engineering, creative arts, and interdisciplinary problem-solving. The initiative reflects the school’s unwavering commitment to transforming education from passive learning to active creation.
In his welcome address at the inauguration, the Academic Director, Dr. Rajeev Chhetri, emphasized that innovation is no longer confined to technology but is a mindset that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and purposeful collaboration. The new laboratories are envisioned as designated spaces where students are empowered to ask meaningful questions, experiment and explore, learn from failure, and develop solutions to real-world challenges. Expressing gratitude to all stakeholders, he acknowledged the support of the Board of Directors, parents, faculty members, and the wider school community whose collective efforts made the initiative a reality.
Speaking in detail about the 3DI Incubation Lab and what it entails, Mr. Jagadish Lologu, Technical Director, 3DI School, educated the audience on how the labs will serve learners across different age groups, providing opportunities to engage in inquiry-based learning, prototype ideas, and apply classroom knowledge in authentic contexts. By integrating science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics with entrepreneurship and design thinking, the laboratories aim to cultivate future-ready learners equipped with the skills and competencies demanded by an increasingly interconnected world.
The keynote address by Dr. Craig Hansen stressed the requirement for young learners to be equipped with the necessary skill set to be future-ready to take on job opportunities that virtually do not exist at the current time.
The inauguration ceremony featured a formal ribbon-cutting, unveiling of the plaque, guided tours of the innovation spaces, interactive demonstrations by the 3DI staff, and presentations showcasing the diverse learning opportunities that the laboratories will offer.
With the launch of the 3DI Incubation Labs, GEMS School reaffirms its mission to provide an education that goes beyond textbooks—one that encourages exploration, creativity, collaboration, and lifelong learning. The initiative represents an investment not only in infrastructure but also in every learner’s limitless potential to become an innovator, leader, and responsible global citizen.
